Kintsugi (金継) is a Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. The breaks and repairs are thus made visible, displayed rather than hidden. Human relationships aren't like pottery; perhaps they're more complex than simply repairing a plate. However, there's a certain parallel between our reunion and this ancient technique.
